Hobart Day Tour -Bonorong  Wildlife Sanctuary  and  Russell Falls

Pick up Hobart 8:00am

Return Hobart 5:00pm (approximately)

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, specialises in the rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned Tasmanian native wildlife. It is Tasmania’s only 24 hour wildlife rescue service, funded entirely by sanctuary entry fees.

  • Your tour starts with a drive through historic New Norfolk, passing through hop fields, apple orchards and berry farms to Mt Field National park . Here you can have a couple of choices of walks depending on how long you wish to walk for. Russell Falls is a short 20 minute walk there and back or I can drop you off at the top of the big tree walk (30-45 minutes) where you can see over 75 metre tall hardwood pines and blackwood, sassafras and myrtle through the park. You will also have the opportunity to view both the spectacular 'Horseshoe' and 'Russell Falls' (there are quite a few steps down).
  • After your walk we will return to Westerway and The Possum Shed Cafe or Mount Field Cafe for a light lunch before making our way to join your tour at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where you can hand feed kangaroos - get your photo taken with a koala and learn all about the Tasmanian Devil.
  • There are also a family of Eastern Spotted Quolls which are also under threat and they now have a breeding programme to help boost the population.
  • We then return to your accommodation in Hobart via wine tastings if you would like or  visit to the quaint Georgian Village of Richmond.
