Wine and Food Trail Huon Valley Southern Tasmania
PIck Up Hobart 8:00am.
Your tour starts with a coastal drive passing through Tinderbox and Howden with panoramic views across to Bruny Island and the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. Plenty of sightseeing opportunities
We visit Brookfield Shed which was built in the early 1940's for the purpose of collecting flower and vegetable seeds for Yates Seeds. The slatted drying floor is still in place.
The Grandvewe Cheesery is our next stop, Australia's only organic cheesery with over 15 different types of cheeses. There's also a chance to taste their own wine and a fabulous liqueur.
Experience Tasmania's rich heritage at the beautifully located Hartzview Wine Centre incorporating Cafe, Gallery and "Providore" where you can explore the restored fruit pickers' huts - home to workers and their families, and Italian Prisoners of War in the early 1900s. You can select from a wide range of wines, ports and liqueurs. This is where you will enjoy your lunch with panoramic views.
After lunch we will make our way through the stunning apple/cherry and pear orchards to Pagan Cider for a tasting if you like cider.
It will then be onto some honey tasting at the Honey Pot and actually see a working bee farm.
You will then return to your accommodation in Hobart.
