Rich & Gale, and Jan & Jack, from Michigan, USA, had a great day excursion with Tasmania i-Drive while on a cruise aboard the Viking Orion.
It was an early 7:30am start and we headed straight for Mt Field National Park. We were just about the first visitors for the day which meant we had plenty of sightings of one of our wallaby species, the pademelon. Russell Falls had plenty of water which made for some great photos. We climbed the steps to view the smaller Horseshoe Falls before walking to, and completing, the Tall Tree Circuit with its massive Swamp Gums, around 80 metres in height.
Upon our return we headed for Brighton and a pie or pastie for lunch at Brighton’s Best Bakehouse. Our next attraction was Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. We had plenty of time to view all the animals and hand feed the eastern grey kangaroos before joining the 1:30pm keeper’s talk on the wombat, Tasmanian devil and echidna. We then drove to Richmond for a look at the oldest bridge still in use in Australia before adjourning to the Richmond Arms Hotel for a quick ale!
It was only on the way back to the cruise ship that the heavens opened up, and the rain that was predicted to be falling all day, finally made an appearance. The crew were very happy with both the weather playing ball and the day’s activities with Tasmania i-Drive.
